It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 10/08/12

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, check it out and join in the fun! This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

I’ve had a productive blogging week. You know, I never realize that until it’s time to put my Monday post together. So, there’s another reason I love this meme. It’s like a pat on the back. Of course there are those cruddy weeks…but let’s not talk about those! Here’s what I’ve been up to:
Dancing to the Flute by Manisha Jolie Amin

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes

Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver

I celebrated Banned Books Week by reading and reviewing Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume. It took me right back to childhood and I loved it!

My 12 year old daughter reviewed Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls. She’s an awesome kid, if I do say so myself.

The Lotus Eaters by Tatjana Soli

The Cutting Season by Attica Locke

Current and Upcoming Reads:

I’m in the middle of Robert Goolrick’s Heading out to Wonderful right now. You know what? It really is wonderful..ha ha. Seriously though, I’m enjoying it!

I have a stack of 4 or 5 books waiting for me at the library including The Forgetting Tree by Tatjana Soli and Blankets by Craig Thompson.

On the Blog:
I did a bit of whining about my blog pet peeves. Cathartic!

Have a fab week ya’ll!

  1. I like participating in this meme because it does help motivate me to get things posted during the week so that my It's Monday post isn't bare!I loved your blogging pet peeve post – and can totally sympathize with all your points!Have a great week!~Kristin @ Always With a Book

  2. Every so often I'll get a comment saying something like, \”Wow, you had a really productive week\” or whatever and I'll think to myself, \”Did I?\” It's only until I scroll down and look at what I've done that I'll say, \”Oh, wow, I did.\” I think that having a blogging calendar (which was a tip that I picked up from one of the links you posted from Bloggiesta) has kept things simpler and more organized, so I've been able to be more productive lately. I always feel like I could be doing more, though. Maybe it's just my inner over-achiever talking. You certainly had a productive week. I think I could have read much more if I hadn't decided to read A Prayer for Owen Meany, which I'm still not halfway through. I don't want to give up on it, but I also want to read other things this week. Maybe I'll read it in between other books, just so that I have some review content this week. Maybe I should also stop thinking aloud on your blog. LOL

  3. I am definitely going to read Heading Out to Wonderful. I am in full on Halloween mode right now, but it sounds like a wonderful book for November. :)I am looking forward to your review of The Cutting Season. I have been thinking about reading it, but I can't make up my mind.

  4. I haven't re-read Flowers for Algernon since I first read it in middle school. I should read it again to see if it makes as powerful impression on me now as it did then.

  5. Pat, pat…you did have a great week!:)I'm really interested to see what you think of Heading Out to Wonderful. I've heard so many great things about it.

  6. Awesome week! I've had a few cruddy weeks, hope to turn that around quick smart lol. The Lotus Eaters is on Mt TBR and I haven't read Flowers for Algernon … hmmm.Off to check out some of your reviews, thanks for the much needed laugh with your pet peeve post.Happy reading 🙂

  7. Ooh, suspense! 😉 I've finally started on The Passage (which, honestly, everyone else has already read?!) and it's really grabbed my attention. Happy reading this week 🙂

  8. I love that part about this meme too- but only when I've had a good blog/reading week 🙂 All new books to me! Except Are you there God? It's been on the edge of my TBR for ages can't believe it was banned 😛 Have a great week!
