The Relentless Weekly – Oct. 16, 2020

Welcome to my weekly update! Let get at it.

Reading: I continue to read/listen to books with creepy themes. (Don’t you just adore an eerie October?) The last few books were The Institute by Stephen King (strange children!), Rust & Stardust by T. Greenwood (fictional retelling of the story that inspired Lolita), and The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave (witches!).

Watching: I’ve started Hinterland. It’s a drama series set in Wales, and it’s quite foreboding. You can see that I’m really sticking to a sinister theme this month.

Loving: The best part of the week was having an overnight visit from our favorite (and only) 2 year old grandson. He’s my favorite person to spend time with. I admit to a certain amount of bias, but he really is the sweetest and smartest. Hearing him say “love you, Grandma!” sends me into space. It’s incredible.

Dreading: It’s time to close up the camper until next year. I am going to miss hanging at the lake! This will be the first time we have to pack up and winterize. Let’s hope we can figure out a way to keep the mice out until spring. Damn things are sneaky.

Sharing: My friend Monika has written a fantastic post that you’ll want to read. Click on the graphic below:

Tell me a bit about your week! What are you reading? What are you watching? I could use some cooking inspiration, what have you been making lately?

Remember to keep those masks up and your social interactions down. Also, VOTE.

  1. Your grandson is a cutie!

Thank you for reminding everyone to wear a mask. It’s so simple and yet in some places it’s too difficult to comprehend. My city falls into that category and numbers continue to go up.

Did you like The Institute? I thought for a King book, it was a little weak. I wanted MORE of the Institute and less of the latter half. I am reading The Testaments. I don’t know if you have read it but reading it while listening to the Supreme Court confirmation process is chilling.

  2. Awwww, your grandson just couldn’t be cuter. I have been watching British shows that are extremely nonsense, chiefly this show called Taskmaster where a bunch of ridiculous people do a bunch of ridiculous tasks. It’s high-key nonsense and I have been finding it very relaxing.
