April is always crammed with books, thanks mostly to Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon.
The Graphic Novels:
The Nonfiction:
Born With Teeth by Kate Mulgrew
Life from Scratch by Sasha Martin
Citizen by Claudia Rankine
The Fiction:
Dept. of Speculation by Jenny Offill
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins
God Help the Child by Toni Morrison
I even managed to sneak in a children’s book that I’ve wanted to read forever:
April was good. Diverse, broad, controversial, and good. I won’t be able to choose a favorite, it’s too damn hard.
I hope you all had a good April! Can you pinpoint your favorite book of the month?
I read Saga during the Readathon, but I need to get Volume 4 asap! So, so good.It looks like you had a great month. Here's to a great reading May!

It was good but it's totally geared toward middle school aged kids π I liked it but I would recommend it for my nephews, not for my reading pals. (Although I did learn a lot!)

I was so glad to finally read it. There's been such a hubbub about it since it came out. (Unwarranted by the way, it was lovely!)

Definitely. You can zip through it π It was one of my very favorites from last year and I was happy to re-read it for the Salon.

I'm a big fan of graphic novels, as you can see. π Especially when I participate in a 24 hour readathon. The short and colorful style keeps my brain firing on all cylinders!

Right!? I'm so pleased with how the month turned out. You know, I'm still processing it. I probably shouldn't have read it on readathon day because it deserves a slower pace. It was good, but the characters weren't as fleshed out as I normally would like.

Don't fret, it's mostly due to the readathon, lol. π I hope you have a great month too, Melinda!
