Best Books So Far This Year: Top Ten Tuesday

It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday! This time around we’ve been prompted to pick the 10 best books that we’ve read (so far!) in 2014.

Picking favorites is difficult.

These are in no particular order:

  1. The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
  2. The Bear by Claire Cameron
  3. Newtown: An American Tragedy by Matthew Lysiak
  4. Dept. of Speculation by Jenny Offill
  5. Shotgun Lovesongs by Nickolas Butler
  6. The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
  7. The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan
  8. The Promise by Ann Weisgarber
  9. Animal Farm by George Orwell
  10. Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh
Read them all.

What are some of your 2014 favorites?

Some of my nearest and dearest were able to attend BEA this year. Shannon, from River City Reading, has written up some fantastic posts about her time there. This one, about the off-beat books she discovered there, is particularly interesting.

Other Stuff:

I had a lousy 6 day period. My sweet and silly George passed away suddenly. I keep telling myself that even if he only lived to be 3, he had the best life. He was funny and he was loving and he was loved in return more than I can say. I’ll miss “reading” with you, pal.

Less than a week later I was in a car accident. Blerg. I had some neck pain but ended up being fine. The same can’t be said for my car. It was totaled. Now I have to car shop. GROSS.

Here’s hoping that the next week is better than the last. It has to be!

Thanks so much for visiting me here. I hope you have a great week! What’s happening in your neck of the woods? Let me know by leaving a comment.
