Hello, beautiful bookish people! It’s a sunny Friday morning here in northwest Wisconsin. It’s going to be yet another hot & humid day. You’d think one would get used to it. You’d be wrong. This gal is firmly in perimenopause, and she isn’t amused.
The world swirls in continued chaos, due in part to the angry creamsicle trying to sabotage the United States Postal Service. That means I continue to donate to causes when I can, and to amplify voices of people who are making a difference. Also, I think it’s important to celebrate personal wins, and I will continue to do so.
Posting: This week I shared a Get to Know Me Monday post all about what distracts me from reading. I’d really like to hear your thoughts on that one… what distracts you?
Reading: This week I re-read Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. After reading a nonfiction book about the Black Death it seemed wise to round out the week with a fictional plague book. (Why do I read such depressing books? I should explore that.) I also read an enlightening self-help book about emotionally immature parents. Fascinating stuff!
Joining: The Feminist Book Club! For now I’ve ordered the book only option as I’m trying to stay away from bringing more stuff into my house. I’m excited to receive feminist reads, and to chat about them with other FBC members.
Celebrating: Yesterday we closed on our new property. I realize I’m banging on about this a bit. It’s just that we’re so excited to make this happen after dreaming about it as long as we’ve been together. Mike can’t wait to fish constantly, and I can’t wait to sit by the water to read. Mostly though I’m looking forward to family gatherings. Safe, distanced, and masked family gatherings. Happy sighs all around.
Sharing: Do you want to fix your skin? Listen to everything this woman says. Genius.
I hope you’ve had a swell week, and I hope you have an even better weekend. Snuggle a pet, buy some stamps, and get excited about your personal successes!
