It’s Monday! What are you reading? 09/28/2015

Ugh. I’m reading nothing, you guys. Nothing. I haven’t finished a book since mid-August. I’ve dabbled. I’ve started a few books. I’ve grazed. But nothing is sticking.

Worse than that? The way I’m feeling about this slump:

Blerg. I’m writing this post to let people know that even though I’m not blogging or reading I’m still out here. I’m draggy, apathetic, and slumpy, but I’m still here.

Tell me what you’re reading. Tell me about the amazing books in your life. Inspire me!

  1. I'm so sorry about your slump! That stinks. Maybe try a memoir by someone you love? Hmmm…what recent reads did I like? Bellweather Rhapsody was kind of dark and quirky and The Hummingbird by Stephen Kierman was really good too!

  2. What about a good graphic novel? Might break your slump. When I'm feeling out-of-sorts in a readerly sort of way, I roam the graphic novel section of my library and always find something fun.I recently finished the historical novel \”The Chaperone\” by Laura Moriarty and I really enjoyed it. I'm currently in the middle of a nonfiction book, \”Flappers\” by Joshua Zeitz, which is super fun, and also the classic (that I had never read) \”How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents\” by Julia Alvarez. The writing in that one is so beautiful. And they're basically linked short stories, which might be good for a slump. Or you could just read a book of short stories. 🙂

  3. Reading slumps are the woorrrrst. I haven't finished a book in a while either, though in my case it's been do to horrendous busy-ness rather than lack of desire to read the many awesome books in my house. I do feel like it's been a while since the last book that knocked my socks off, though, so I'm ready for one of those to hit me. Any time now.

  4. I'm 'kind of' reading The Forbidden Library, but I'm more into comics these days, and Big Finish audio dramas. They are great to listen while walking on the treadmill. If you are into a slump, I would recommend some graphic novels, or full cast audio dramas. Maybe a change of pace or style will be good for you.Thiago – Doctor Corgi
