The Relentless Weekly Wrap-Up 02/22/2015

Reading:
2015 continues to be a great reading year. I know that it’s only February but I’m excited about it anyway. I’ve read a number of interesting books recently. Right now I’m in the middle of Whisper Hollow by Chris Cander.

I miss you. Sob.

Weeping:
I finished my re-watch of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It was fantastic and the last scene made me cry. For real. Now what?? I don’t know. I do know that I’ll re-watch this series again in a year or two. I’ll always need Picard in my life.

Mmm, soup.

Cooking:

This Hamburger Soup was easily the hit of the week. I did end up doubling the spices it called for. (Probably because I added extra potato chunks, and you know how those suck up all the salt in a recipe.) Hooray for tons of healthy veggies in a savory soup. Healthy, hearty, and tasty.

Celebrating:
Since my 28th* birthday is on Monday I had a little birthday celebration yesterday. I used the birthday excuse to hang out with my sister, my oldest daughter, and a bunch of friends. I got a pedicure, went out to dinner, and had too many cocktails. It was awesome. I wish I could turn 28* every week! I also wish hangovers didn’t exist. I’ll admit it: I’m dragging this morning.

Blogging:
I’m giving away a copy of Hausfrau to celebrate a Facebook milestone. Enter Here! (If you haven’t liked my Facebook page, now’s the time to do it.

Loving:
Remember a few weeks back when I had my stylist chop 4-5″ off of my hair? It wasn’t enough. I went back this week and had him take off the rest.

Have a great week everyone. Be kind to one another.

*41. Whatever.

  1. Happy 25th birthday!!!! 😉 There's never such a thing as too many cocktails, plus the mini-White Russians looked great. I would have too many of them too as White Russians are one of my favorite drinks. Here, I'm slowly making my way through TNG, but I'm only in Season 1. Hopefully it will get less cheesy? I'm hoping.

  2. Damn you blogger for eating my comment!!! 🙂 So here's the condensed version. Your hair looks AWESOME!!! I need to see the back. Hope you have a fabulous birthday tomorrow and a relaxing day today. And that soup sounds awesome! I usually just add a bit of sriracha to my own bowl for spice. I made a huge batch of the chicken taco chili from Skinny Taste (website) and will freeze it for lunches. Yummmmmmm.

  3. I am totally jealous of your pixie cut. I don't have the stones to go through with it, even though I've been dying to for years. I feel like I hide behind my hair…it's my security blanket. What would I do without it? But pixie cuts are so darn cool (as yours attests)…Looking up the hamburger soup recipe now. My kids might actually eat this!

  4. You're rocking that haircut – it looks great on you! And happy birthday, and happy Facebook milestone. 2500 likes is impressive! As a fellow STNG fan, I'd say there is always room for a little Picard in one's life. And the rest of the crew, too. 🙂

  5. I adore your hair cut! I guess it could be said I'm biased…but who shaves half her head and cuts the top as pixie if she doesn't LOVE short hair?! You look so much younger than a person celebrating the 12th anniversary if her 29th birthday 😉
