The Relentless Weekly Wrap-Up 09/28/14

On the Blog:

Review of The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell

I participated in Banned Books Week by reading and reviewing Fun Home by Alison Bechdel

Currently Reading:

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

Read:

Fun Home by Alison Bechdel

So We Read On by Maureen Corrigan

Upcoming:

Free range reading, baby!

Around the Blogosphere:

You must have a look at April’s (The Steadfast Reader) Fan Fiction Friday. I don’t want to give anything away so I’ll just say that it involves Harry Potter and miracles.

In My Neck of the Woods:

We celebrated the best season of the year at our local Fall Fest.  Weenie dog races, mini-donuts, and mums. What could be better?

Even though we live in a tiny town with nary a Starbucks in sight, I picked up a pumpkin latte at a local coffee joint… It was dreamy.

What have you been up to? Are you as thrilled with this glorious season as I am? What are you reading? I’d love to know!

  1. I can't wait to read Fun Home. I didn't realize it was banned until this week, but I guess all good books have to get banned at some point.

  2. Mini-donuts and pumpkin lattes…. mmmmmmm…Keep enjoying the fall! Although it's been more like summer here… but I'm okay with that. I'm not looking forward to the snow in a couple months.

  3. Weenie dog races? OMG I love it!! It's still pretty dang hot here but the nights are a little cooler and I'm going to try to drag my family downtown to the Texas State Fair next month. How is it October in 2 days?!?!I both love and hate the feeling of not knowing what I'll be reading next. 🙂 Hope you find a winner!

  4. The Fall Fest sounds like so much fun! I was supposed to work the choir bake sale at our local pumpkin patch but was too sick to do it so I missed it. I heard it did not go well. It was opening day and I guess there was no one there! There is a little bit of coolness in the air for us but the weather gal said it's supposed to be back to 100 later this week. Makes it difficult to pull out the fall stuff when it is blazing hot.

  5. Fall is on its way soon. Its getting chillier but the leaves haven't quite turned yet out here in Japan. Within a few more weeks and it'll be reds, oranges, and yellows of heaven here. Wiener dog races! Adorable. Pumpkin lattes are rare over, but I did manage to find one last week. I'm reading The Fellowship of the Ring and Hollow City by Ransom Riggs. Fun ones.
