Currently Reading:

Hell-Bent explores a fascinating, often surreal world at the extremes of American yoga. Benjamin Lorr walked into his first yoga studio on a whim, overweight and curious, and quickly found the yoga reinventing his life.
Upcoming:

When an infected bolt of cloth carries plague from London to an isolated village, a housemaid named Anna Frith emerges as an unlikely heroine and healer. Through Anna’s eyes we follow the story of the fateful year of 1666, as she and her fellow villagers confront the spread of disease and superstition.
The unbelievably riveting adventure of an unlikely young explorer who emerged from the jungles of Africa with evidence of a mysterious, still mythical beast—the gorilla—only to stumble straight into the center of the biggest debate of the day: Darwin’s theory of evolution

  1. As a yoga practisioner myself (what a strange word that is), I love books about yoga. I am very curious about the one you mention here, it sounds fascinating!'The pure heart of yoga' by Robery Butera is on my reading pile for this week!Have a great reading week, kind regards,

  2. I look forward to your review of The Guilty One, it sounds like my kind of read. I hope you enjoy your reads this week 🙂

  3. The Painted Girls seems good and I look forward to your candid review. Yoga – an exercise/lifestyle that I have deliberately avoided because I am quite certain I would fall head over heels (literally) in love with it and I know I do not have the time to devote to it. You'll have to let me know what you think of Hell Bent. That's a great title.

  5. Year of Wonders and Between Man and Beast are both books I hadn't heard of before seeing them here, and they both look like the kind of thing I typically enjoy. Thanks for highlighting them and bringing them to my attention! Have a great week 🙂

  7. I can't wait to read Hell-Bent. I started Bikram Yoga two years ago and it transformed my life as well (I've been on hiatus, need to get back to it). I also go to the competitions (to watch) and they are incredible. I do understand how weird it can all seem to people who aren't part of the community though! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the Painted Girls as well!

  8. Competitive yoga? Really? Isn't that an oxymoron? I read Year of Wonders on my honeymoon. Yes. A story about the Black Plague as I visited Hawaii. Don't ask me what I was thinking because I still don't know.Enjoy your week!

  10. Both of your upcoming reads look fantastic! I've had Year of Wonders in my home library for years. I'll watch for your review. So, what book did you end up with for the Spin? I ended up with Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons. It was on my neutral list so I'm fine with it. Plus, it's short so will allow for more reading next month. ;O)Have a great week!
