I would normally choose a favorite book of the month but that is simply impossible this time around. June contained two great blasts from the past, two beautiful graphic novels, a stunning memoir, and some of the finest fiction I’ve read all year. Favorites?? Ha. No way it can be done.

The Relentless Reader 
I really enjoy the hard-hitting nature of Edgar Keret's writing, especially since it gives a different cultural perspective. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret is such a visceral novel that I think speaks to girls of all generations, even though some of the technical stuff of how to take care of herself when she does get her first period is different today (no garters!).

Glad you had a good reading month! My favorites I read in June were \”Our Endless Numbered Days\” and \”Just Mercy.\” The MiseryRAL was so much fun, too. Looking forward to July… when I'll be in Wisconsin for five days!!!

You've been playing with backgrounds again, haven't you? I like the purple! Also, you are seriously bad for my TBR pile. Looking at this list, I have almost half of them you read in June on their way to me this week. I'm REALLY excited about The Library at Mount Char. I feel it has my name written ALL over it.

I have Dietland and Circling the Sun waiting to be read. My favorite of my reads in June was A Hundred Summers (yes, I finally got around to reading this one, and what a treat!).

Wow – that's a great crop of books! I'm planning to read Circling the Sun soon and am interested in Kitchens of the Great Midwest as well…especially after your comments. And – I've relented and added Dietland to my \”must try before the end of the year list\”…despite not really being psyched about the premise (but, can't ignore all the raves!).

This was my first experience with Keret and I was entirely impressed, so good! In the newer versions of Are You There God? they have changed the belt/garter scene a little bit, to reflect the current times 😉

I think I'm the only nerd on earth who hasn't read Our Endless Numbered Days. I have it, just need to get to it! 😀 Hooray for a Wisconsin vacation! Eat a lot of cheese 😉

It's a total mind bender, for real. I think you'd dig it? I wouldn't have thought it would be the book for me either, but damn. I can't stop thinking about it.

Kitchens! Oh wow, did I love that one. It spoke to me, as a Midwesterner AND as a little bit of a foodie 😀 Dietland is so different from anything I'd ever read. It's definitely a discussion worthy book and I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think.

You had a fantastic month of reading! Cardboard is a book my kids and I have enjoyed before in the past. I read a ton of children's books last month and so many have made my \”best of\” list.
