It’s time to make a giant stack of books. It’s time to plan an elaborate meal/snack/beverage menu. It’s time for Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon!
Yesterday I talked about my fancy readathon menu. Ha ha, no. It’s going to be pizza and chocolate this time around.
Now, it’s time to talk BOOKS! The most important part of any readathon is that lovely stack of potential. I craft my list with care. I only stack books that deserve to be called readathon books. I have a strategy that hasn’t failed me yet: Graphic novels and short books are my jam.
The Short Books:
I’ll be reading The Yellow Wallpaper as part of the very first readathon readalong. (I love saying that.)
I’ll be reading Citizen for an upcoming chat on The Socratic Salon.
I’m hoping to have time to start The Argonauts as well.
The Graphic Novels:
I’ve been holding onto volumes 2, 3, and 4 of Saga for months in anticipation of the readathon…
The Bonus Books:
I might read some of Pioneer Girl. I’ve been hoarding that book as if it’s the last chocolate bar on earth. (Probably because it’s so hard to get.)
And Tango Makes Three has consistently been on every list of banned books since it came out in 2005. I don’t have little kids to read it to. SO WHAT. I’m looking forward to seeing what the fuss is all about and then I’ll pass the book on to my young nephew.
Banned books. I’m such a rebel.
What is on your readathon stack?
I'm unfortunately not able to participate in the Readathon (some day, I swear!), but I love seeing everyone's choices. And – I just heard about the penguin book on a Book Riot podcast earlier this week. I didn't pay as much attention to book news back in 2005, so this whole thing was new to me. Have fun this weekend!

I'm hoping to sneak in 6 hours or so by convincing the grandma she needs to spend time with the kids on a Saturday. 🙂

While I'm not participating this time, I'll be cheering all of you on! Ugh, I've been on a wait list at amazon for the Laura Ingalls Wilder book for months! I'm happy to see that it actually does exist, and that someone has a copy, I'll have to read vicariously through you 🙂

Ha! I love the gifs, and everything on this post. Citizen is just… something. I still don't know how to explain it, but it does things to people. I mean this in a positive kind of way. Ugh. And I need to start reading graphic novels like yesterday. Have fun with your reads!

Oh, such a lovely stack! You're officially winning my completely unofficial and 100% made up BEST GIF USAGE award this time around… so far. :PI'm reading The Yellow Wall-Paper too, hopefully, and Sex Criminals vol. 1 is on my maybe-TBR heap. Along with quite a lot of other things, BUT IT IS THE ONLY ONE WITH PICTURES which will definitely help its chances come 4am. 🙂

I'm excited!! I haven't planned too much really, besides just read when I'm home during the day. I have some errands to run in the morning and a concert to attend in the evening, so I need to keep it loose. Looking forward to seeing your progress by the end!

Love your choices! Yellow Wallpaper is amazing. I neeeed to read Sex Criminals. And unfortunately Citizen hasn't gotten into the library for me yet. So sad. But I'm going for short books too! And I haven't read a graphic novel in a while, but I picked up Ghost World. Going to give it a shot tomorrow!
