It’s already the 5th of February? How did that happen?
I read twelve books in January. I’m certainly not going to complain about that. Here are the books that filled my month with glorious words:
Dead Wake by Erik Larson*
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Smile by Raina Telgemeier
Drama by Raina Telgemeier
Strange Fruit by Joel Christian Gill*
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
My Sunshine Away by M.O. Walsh
Irritable Hearts by Mac McClelland*
A Tree Born Crooked by Steph Post
My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me by Jennifer Teege*
The Martian by Andy Weir
*Nonfiction
Favorite Fiction: YOU CAN’T MAKE ME PICK! It’s a tie of awesomeness between The Martian and All the Light We Cannot See
Favorite Nonfiction: Dead Wake
Favorite Graphic Novel/Comic: Smile
How was January for you?
I'm so excited for Dead Wake!! I have it waiting for me on my Kindle for March! You got some great books in this month! And I'm still raving about My Sunshine Away – reviewing coming on Feb 11.

I am so excited to read Dead Wake. Larsen hasn't disappointed yet. I'm glad to see that it was your favourite non-fiction of the month. There was something about January that made it insanely productive reading wise – I finished 14 books. But so far in February, I'm still trying to finish one.

I started scrolling through your list and I was so impressed that I knew all of them. And then I found a few that were new to me! I'm glad you had a great month, Jennifer. May your February reading be just as good!

The Girl on the Train is haunting me! From the Internet, from blogs, and the copy sitting on my dresser! I'm in the middle of two others and have one I want to read before a movie comes out later in February, but this one is just getting to me!

Smile is on my list, and I really have to get Drama, too. I'm so glad you liked The Martian! I enjoyed that book so much (and it was a little unexpected, as I more or less picked it up because of the reviews I'd seen of it – going by the blurb alone, it certainly wasn't a book I'd normally read).

Smile & Drama are both so sweet and fun. You'll like them a lot. I only picked up The Martian because nearly every blogger I know raved about it. Science is NOT my thing and I never would have picked it up on my own. Oh my gosh, though. SO good.

I just finished The Girl on the Train today and I'm trying to decide if it was over-hyped (probably), but ultimately good. Or hyped to the point that it covered up the fact that it's a pretty standard domestic thriller… What did you think?

The hype might have gotten to you? Maybe? I couldn't put it down, lol. But I don't read a lot of thrillers (almost never in fact) so it might have just gotten to me because I'm not used to them, lol.
