The Relentless Weekly Wrap-Up 05/04/14

On The Blog:
This week I put together mini-reviews of the books I read during Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon and I shared my monthly wrap-up.
Read:
More of The Walking Dead comic series but that’s it. I don’t know what my deal is.
Currently Reading:

There are a couple of books on my bedside table…that I’m totally not reading.
Upcoming:

The best guess for my immediate future? Continued Parenthood Netflix binge sessions!

Around the Blogosphere:
Thankfully there are other bloggers out there who aren’t slacking up a storm. Check out the applause-worthy greatness:
Katie, from Words for Worms, helped put together a Bookish Baby Shower. You have to see the photos! So. Cute.
A nonprofit charity bookstore in Pensacola, FL. lost nearly 3,000 books during recent flooding. Monika, from A Lovely Bookshelf on the Wall, details how you can help.
Well, gang. I really don’t know what’s up with my lack of reading. Apathy is reigning! I’ll snap out of it. I always do.
I hope you’re having better luck and that you’ve had a bitchin’ bookish week! What’s up with you? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Wow. Is that a photo of you? 😉 I mean 😦 You look so sad.I'm a bit apathetic about reading too lately and have found myself just wanting to play Solitaire instead or binge-watch CSI: NY and Numb3rs. So…it's not just you.

  2. This has been a remarkably apathetic reading year for me. But last year was, too, and I snapped out of it round about summer time. Hoping the same this year!

  3. Parenthood. I got completely addicted to that show. It's ridiculous. I'm right there with you on that one, girl!Reading nearly ground to a halt for me in March/April. Awful, horrible, stupid busy depressing months. I think I posted like 4x those two months, total. But as of last night my orchestras are done for the summer, and classes at the university where I work end after this week, so things are looking up in the reading-time and blog-posting departments here. 🙂

  4. School can do a number on read time, so even getting through The Walking Dead is a plus! Are you going to keep taking classes through the summer or take a break?

  5. Netflix binges become very consuming! Been there, done that. Funny thing is a friend of mine just started watching Parenthood on Netflix this week! Maybe I should be checking it out.

  6. We only switched from the Wii version of Netflix to the PS3 version a few months ago, and the Wii doesn't auto-play… so I had to physically click to watch the next episode each time. I'm not sure what's worse, the semi-self-loathing that comes with having manual control of how many episodes I binge on, or the auto-play's condescending \”Are you still watching this?\” every few episodes. (Yes, I'm still watching, but I'm trying to charge the controller, WAY TO MAKE ME GET UP OFF THE COUCH, stupid Netflix…)

  7. Thanks so much for sharing about Open Books. *hug*I realllllllllly want to do a Parenthood marathon watch. I used to catch it on television and really enjoyed it, but then I started teaching late the night it airs, and now we don't have cable and our stations don't come in clearly so… yeah. But we have Netflix! 🙂

  8. Here's to watching our way out of reading slumps. Parks and Rec did it for me. Oddly, I also feel like my days pass much more slowly when I'm watching 23 minute episodes.

  9. Hey, there's nothing wrong with taking a break from otherwise relentless reading as long as you're doing something else that's fun! My appetite for books has been so uneven this year, but I'm pretty much back to normal now.
