If I had to label my January reading I’d call it emotional. No less than 5 of the above books made me weep.
As always, it’s hard to choose favorites. But, I’ve done it!
Favorite Fiction: Belle Cora by Phillip Margulies ~ A sweeping historical fiction that held me in its spell
Favorite Nonfiction: Newtown by Matthew Lysiak ~ I cannot express how this book made me feel. It brought me to my knees. It was incredibly hard to read but incredibly important as well. (Take action here: Sandy Hook Promise )

The Relentless Reader 
January was quite an emotional reading month for me too – the appearance of tears did not happen though (I've never actually cried at a book). Here's to a more refreshing February! 🙂Bits & Bobs

I picked up Twelve Years a Slave last month. The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in Hartford, in partnership with some other organizations, is showing and having a panel discussion on the movie later this month that I hope to attend. Want to read the book first, of course. 🙂

I'm kinda a wimp when it comes to emotions, lol. I'll boo hoo for hours over a movie or a book…or a really good commercial, lol.

You had a great reading month! I'm definitely going to have to check out Belle Cora now. My favourite book of the month was The Harlot's Tale by Sam Thomas, which continues his Lady Bridget Hodgson series.

Wow, great reading month!! I'm interested in the Newtown book but… I just don't know if I can handle it, kwim? Maybe when C is older. Or if I'm feeling especially brave one day.

They both fell in the \”good but not great\” category for me. I enjoyed them, but I think they fell victim to too much hype, in my case.
