World Book Night was fabulous! I gave away copies of The Handmaid’s Tale. 

I recommended The Hope Factory on Bloggers Recommend. If you haven’t signed up for the monthly newsletter from BR you should! 

I was a tiny bit excited for Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-Thon.

Speaking of the Read-a-Thon, here is the post that I updated throughout the event. I read some books, I ate some snacks, I kicked some ass.

  2. The cover for Sisterland reminds me of Dakota Fanning, which reminds me of My Sister's Keeper, which means I'll at least check out the book 🙂 You got a lot done! I'm glad that you re-read Gatsby and loved it (I read that on Twitter yesterday!)

  3. I just love the little cat typing away, so congratulations on your 300th post! The book by Antony Marra has a beautiful cover, that often influences which book I will pick next.Have a great reading week, kind regards.

  4. Did you do a review of Orphan Train? The read-a-thon sounds awesome! I'd like to do it someday….April/May is always a very busy time of year for me. Maybe when I get another child graduated???? My fourth is a senior next year. I need to reread The Great Gatsby.

  12. I haven't yet reviewed Orphan Train but I will be! Early May, I promise 😉 The next read-a-thon is in October Heidi, kick the family out of the house and go for it, lol. I'm so glad I re-read Gatsby. It's a short but beautiful book!

  18. I loved Persepolis, and loved The Great Gatsby when I re-read it last year. I have Maus, both of them, but still haven't read them! I have Garden of Stones to read too. Did you like that one? I don't think I'd heard of The Snow Child before – will probably recognise the cover when I see it! – but based on your enthusiasm I'll have to look into it, cheers! 🙂

  22. I read Maus and Persepolis for the read-a-thon. (Graphic novels are the BEST for that day) I loved them both and ended up ordering the 2nd volume of each right away! Garden of Stones started out strong. The 2nd half was hurried and weird to me 😦 The Snow Child was a finalist for this years Pulitzer. I highly recommend it!

  25. Your 300th post eh. With this and the read-a-thon it was some week to be had by you!I look forward to your reviews of books read this week, particularly your thoughts on The Great Gatsby.I hope you enjoy any upcoming reads, I'm sure we'll hear all about them in good time 🙂

  26. City of Thieves and Life after Life look like they were great reads. I got what you meant about smiling during City of Thieves. Sometimes while reading The Book Thief I'd find myself laughing out loud…but then feel kind of weird about it considering the dark subject manner. I guess that's kind of the point though–despite all the awfulness in the world sometimes it can help to retain your sense of humor.
