The Newlyweds by Nell Freudenberger
In The Newlyweds, we follow the story of Amina Mazid, who at age twenty-four moves from Bangladesh to Rochester, New York, for love. A hundred years ago, Amina would have been called a mail-order bride. But this is an arranged marriage for the twenty-first century: Amina is wooed by—and woos—George Stillman online.
For Amina, George offers a chance for a new life and a different kind of happiness than she might find back home. For George, Amina is a woman who doesn’t play games. But each of them is hiding something: someone from the past they thought they could leave behind. It is only when they put an ocean between them—and Amina returns to Bangladesh—that she and George find out if their secrets will tear them apart, or if they can build a future together.

Upcoming:

The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman
Fifty years and many changes have ensued since the paper was founded by an enigmatic millionaire, and now, amid the stained carpeting and dingy office furniture, the staff’s personal dramas seem far more important than the daily headlines. Kathleen, the imperious editor in chief, is smarting from a betrayal in her open marriage; Arthur, the lazy obituary writer, is transformed by a personal tragedy; Abby, the embattled financial officer, discovers that her job cuts and her love life are intertwined in a most unexpected way. Out in the field, a veteran Paris freelancer goes to desperate lengths for his next byline, while the new Cairo stringer is mercilessly manipulated by an outrageous war correspondent with an outsize ego. And in the shadows is the isolated young publisher who pays more attention to his prized basset hound, Schopenhauer, than to the fate of his family’s quirky newspaper.

  1. I'm so envious of your quick reading pace!!! It seems like I never make any headway. Today I spent a good portion of the afternoon unpacking and alphabetizing books that have been elsewhere/in storage for a while now. Conclusion: I have no business buying books EVER.

  2. The Literary Giveaway Hop sounds interesting, but it bums me out that the organizer seems to think YA doesn't have any \”literary merit.\” Like, what's up with that? :(I look forward to hearing what you think about The Imperfectionists—I've been meaning to read it for years, mostly because it has such a wonderful cover design.

  3. You read so fast! I must admit, I am a tad jealous! Both The Newlyweds and The Imperfectionists look intriguing, not my usual reads but I'd like to take a look into them both. I hope we get reviews!

  4. I really want to read Behind the Beautiful Forevers, I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. And the map is a fantastic idea, I think I'm going to do one for my Around the World in 80 Books Challenge! Have a great week.

  5. I don't want to put words in her mouth but I think it's because there are so many YA giveaways around the blogosphere :)I'm looking forward to The Imperfectionists, I've been hearing about it for a while now and I'm a curious girl 🙂

  6. You are reading so fast at the moment, I'm jealous! And I have The Newlyweds on my kindle, I've been meaning to read it for ages. Hope you are enjoying it :)I've been updating my map too, I love the idea. The only problem is that I'm reading the Game of Thrones series and it doesn't exist in the real world!

  7. Your GIFs crack me up. I love the iCarly one. Sam always made me laugh whenever my daughter watched that show. The Newlyweds sounds fascinating. I just finished a more lighthearted novel about arranged marriages, so I'll be curious to see what you think.
