It was so nice to find cards (and bookmarks and bookplates!) in my mailbox from some of the coolest bloggers around! Thanks so much to Laura from Devouring Texts, Chris from Chrisbookarma, Trish from Love, Laughter, and a Touch of Insanity, & Laura from The Scarlet Letter. You know what I usually receive in my snail mail box? Bills. Credit card offers. Christmas cards are a lot more fun!

I also participated in a Secret Santa Exchange from The Broke and the Bookish. Thanks so much to Krysta for the books and the goodies. Unfortunately she doesn’t have a blog and I don’t know how to find and thank her! If anyone knows my Secret Santa please pass on the word. Books and chocolate! Is there anything better? Nope. (Krysta, if you’re reading this: THANK YOU!)
Hot damn you guys! It’s 2013! Resolutions? I’ve never been good at those. I usually don’t bother making any because I hate to set myself up for failure at the beginning of a shiny new year. However, I do have a reading philosophy for 2013:
This will be The Year of Reading Whatever The F*ck I Want.
I did sign up for one challenge. I broke down before the stinking year even began. It is a TBR pile challenge so I don’t think it counts! (Certain people might not agree. But those people are not the boss of me!) Other than that one? No more challenges. No no no. I’m going to read what I feel like, when I feel like it. I mean it! Check out the post, grab the button. Read whatever the fuck you want.
Go forth readers! Go forth and have an ass kickin’ 2013. Read a lot, love a lot, surround yourself with beautiful things and beautiful people. You deserve it.

Hell yes to your post title. I think (?) my 2013 resolution is to be more efficient but we'll see on that one.

Yay! If I do say so myself, your new button is pretty bangin'. ;)I am so excited to not have to worry about whether what I'm reading \”counts\” for something. It's pretty liberating.

I'm just going to say I fully endorse your 2013 reading philosophy. I proclaimed that somewhere along the way and haven't turned back. I don't do review copies unless I really want to read the book, I don't sign up for challenges, and read whatever the (bleepity-bleep) I want to. You go!

I think I just stared at that Read Whatever the Fuck You Want badge for about two minutes, trying to figure out if it really is a unicorn standing on a shark rug, with a golfing bird on its head… Either it's the best challenge badge ever or I'm still drunk from last night.Cheers to 2013!

Haha! It's the mascot for my blog, the Dodisharkicorn. He shows up to spice up slow moving plots and eat the books we hate. 🙂

I gave up reading challenges a few years ago when I found myself bound to lists of books. I've since traded them in for readalongs but at least that way you're in it with other people like a social book club? So I do have a few books planned for this year but otherwise nada!! Happy New Year!

Lol – I love it! I'm doing challenges, and plenty of them, but I plan on reading what I want and fitting them into challenges, not the other way around. And I'm trying to stay strong on not requesting ARCs – then I won't feel obligated to read anything.

What lovely gifts! I'll have to remember the Christmas card exchange next year. I haven't participated in any challenges yet, but I have my eye on two for 2013. We'll see how it goes. Have a blast reading whatever the f*ck you want 🙂

I think your resolution fits a TBR challenge well, it's a compliment to it rather than erring away from your plan. Some great gifts there, I see why you've now got Capote on your list!

I mostly end up reading what I feel like reading at that moment, even if I sign up for challenges (which is probably why I always fail). I hope you enjoy the experience. It can be really liberating!Happy 2013!

It's always nice to get something in the mail besides bills, isn't it? Looks like you got some great cards and gifts! The thing about TBR challenges . . . You are reading books you WANT to read. So it fits in well with your plan to read whatever you want this year. 🙂 I wish you luck and hope you have a great year in reading!

I am totally going to participate in the YORWtFIW!!! Ii'm still doing a few challenges but for ME not for anyone else and I'm also going to only read author/publisher books that I want to read only. I kind of feel like it's a lifestyle choice, not just a year goal.

Haha, love this post! I usually avoid challenges for this reason. My reading habits are eclectic, and whenever I sign up to do a particular challenge, although I like connecting with other bloggers, I get resentful at being constrained in my reading. Here's to 2013, and reading whatever the fuck we want!
