The Relentless Reader 
I finished How to Be a Woman, and I wasn't impressed (unlike lots of other people). Some parts were fantastic, and then some parts made me pretty angry. It's definitely NOT the next feminist manifesto, as she hoped it would be.

Oooo. Thanks for telling us how you liked The Round House! I've been wondering about that book. I just finished Caleb's Crossing and definitely thought I'd enjoy more Native American Indian culture. This one looks like it is a more contemporary look at Indian culture.

I actually didn't like Gone Girl – I just thought it would be better than it was. I think I expected more suspense, but I found it pretty predictable. I do want to read The Round House – I hear it is excellent and you just said it deserved the National Book Award so it must be super good! And as for the Moran book, I've heard its not as feminist as it appears to be, so I'm going to pass on it. Love these quick reviews!

I was a little one the fence with Gone Girl. I thought it was pretty fun and smart, but I found the characters so incredibly unbearable. Talk about whiny! Ugh. But I think I'm in the minority on not loving it so I continue to recommend it. My bf surprised me with a copy of The Round House recently so I'm looking forward to getting into it. I had initially checked it out from the library but couldn't finish before the due date and couldn't renew and found it was so very sad. I don't know if I'll get to it before the holiday but I'm still excited. Love the short reviews – I've been in such a rut with my reviewing. I've found I have NOTHING to say about anything I've read despite liking them. 😦 And you're the second person that has said the Caitlin Moran book was a let down. Do you have any specific reasons as to why you didn't finish? I don't think I'd like it either based on what I've seen.

Still not sure about whether I want to read the Moran, I wanted to when it first came out but after all the blogger reviews… If Flynn has thought of everything then Gone Girl is a book I want to read! Glad you've had a mostly good lot of recent reads 🙂

I'm the farthest you can get from being a prude but nope, I just couldn't do it. Maybe I'm crazy but I felt she was being shocking just to be shocking…if that makes sense.

The characters in Gone Girl were definitely jerks, lol…and that's putting it mildly. I loved how the author tied it all up though. The ending did make me a little nuts.The Round House is a fantastic read. I really enjoyed that one and I hope you will too!About reviewing…well I'll be honest and say that I don't LOVE doing it, lol. Sometimes it's intimidating for me. I'm just a gal who really loves to read, there's nothing professional about me or my reviewing style :)The Moran..ugh. I thought she was just pushing too hard maybe? How many times can I say vagina in this sentence?!? I can be as crude as the next chap but I thought she was trying to SHOCK rather than being honest.

I've seen some bloggers give rave reviews to the Moran but it wasn't my cup of tea. I thought about plowing through but nah. No time for a book that I'm not loving 🙂

I just read Moran's latest, Moranthology, and was pretty underwhelmed. I was prepared to think she was awesome — and I could relate to her on some levels — but I found the whole thing . . . rather disjointed and boring. Think I'll skip How To Be A Woman, too!

I am another that wasn't impressed with Gone Girl. I'm not a fan for playing readers for 'dumb' in a clever way. Half way I got it and hoped it would change but no.LOVE Lisa Genova, I enjoyed this one the least of hers but still really liked it.

Ah ha, I see what you mean about that in Gone Girl Marce! Love Anthony wasn't my favorite of Genovas either..I think Still Alice is her best!

Of the two on the list I've read, I totally agree. Gone Girl had me absolutely speechless at the end of it. Talk about a complete mindf&ck. I love books like that though!

Yay Gone Girl!I keep hearing mixed things about How to Be A Woman, and I'm not sure if I want to read it. (This means I probably won't read it because there are so many other things that I very much do want to read). What didn't you like about it?

I wouldn't tell you to NOT read it because I know there are a ton of people who really liked it. I just wasn't one of them 😉 I keep saying this, but I'll say it again: It came across as an attempt to shock..just for the sake of being shocking. Meh, no thanks.

Loved the reviews, can't wait to read Love Anthony since Still Alice blew me away. Gone Girl is on my book stacks and I think I'll add The Round House to my wishlist.

I'm reading Gone Girl at the moment and I had a lot of \”WTF\” moments. The characters are beyond crazy but Gillian Flynn writes the story in such an interesting way.
