Another week has gone by and it’s time to share what we’ve been reading, and what we plan on reading next!
I caught up on some reviews..did I cheat by slapping 3 of them together? Yea, a little.
Reviews:
My Thoughts On: A Hundred Flowers by Gail Tsukiyama, The Homecoming of Samuel Lake by Jenny Wingfield and The Second Empress by Michelle Moran
Current and Upcoming Reads:
I’ve just started Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. Two things about this book that are bugging me: One, the title is unfortunate due to the swirling vortex of hype surrounding that other book of a similar name. Two, I read about this on a blog and now I can’t remember which one. (I need to get organized!)
After that I’ll have to see what comes in for me at the library. I have 7/8 holds currently and it’s always a surprise to see which one comes in first!
In other blog news I’m excited for Banned Book Week!
What is going on in your neck of the woods?
Happy Reading!
As I said on Twitter, I am reading \”Dare Me\” by Megan Abbott! I felt like I had to pick it up when I saw it at the library since so many other reviewers were talking about it!

I googled Dare Me because I couldn't remember it right away, but I did as soon as I saw the cover. It sounds good! I hope you like it, I'll watch for your thoughts 🙂

You read some great books lately! Glad you loved them as much as I did. My son's girlfriend picked up Between Shades of Gray by mistake, she wanted the other one. I told her to still read the \”wrong\” book, because it is 10 times better! We'll see what she does.

I listened to Shades of Gray on audio last month. It's a heart-wrenching book. My favorite book this week was Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George. Please come see what I'm reading now.

Holy cows you read a lot this week! Don't you just love a great reading week? Too bad about the Shades of Gray book. I bet this author had the title before the other author too.

I loved Mudbound….and I agree with you about the title confusion: Between Shades of Gray and the OTHER one. Loved your expression \”swirling vortex of hype.\” My thoughts exactly.Enjoy your week, and here's MY MONDAY MEMES POST

So many of these sound good! I went to a workshop last week where we talked about Between Shades of Grey. I am looking forward to your review! The Book of Madness and Cures sounds really interesting too! I am interested in Buddy, but you will have to tell me if Buddy dies first!

So far Between Shades of Gray is good 🙂 I have to decide whether or not I want to review every little thing I read. I'm thinking no, lol.

They are both good reads Sheila. If I had to pick between the two I'd go with Samuel Lake. Good luck getting to them! 😉

Some of those were from last week and I was just too lazy to get reviews up, lol. But yea, I did have a great reading week! I'm on a roll 🙂 That poor author must be pulling her hair out, I know I would be!

A swirling vortex of hype that is undeserved in my opinion 😉 Mudbound was a great read wasn't it? I need to get her latest!

Thanks for pointing out Between Shades of Grey. I would have passed it over based on the title but it sounds really good!

I also want to read Between Shades of Grey (*& would never, ever read that other one, egads!) but I've heard of quirks in the The Madness book and was told it wouldn't be for me, so I was happy to scratch that off my potential to read pile. For some reason I never got the promised Moran book, but I guess God knew I had too many to read anyway. Here's Monday's post.

If I hadn't seen this on another blog (who are you oh blogger that reviewed this??) I never would have picked it up. With this title I think the author will need all the help she can in spreading the word about this book! I'll do my part. I'm loving it so far!

Ha, I probably made that sound cooler than it was. 😉 It was a Scholastic Book workshop. I work in a school library, so I run one of the school book fairs. I like to go to both of the fall and spring workshops though so I can preview a lot of the books. Lol.And thank goodness! I can't read books about an animal and then boom they are dead at the end! I die. I will have to check it out. The only one I could manage was Wesley the Owl, because the author said, if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, stop reading right here. So I did.

I'm so intrigued by the cover art and the title of The Book of Madness and Cures! Also, I had an ARC of The Homecoming of Samuel Lake that I loaned to a friend after she asked me for a recommendation, and then told me what kinds of books she likes. I should have read it first, because she loved it and passed it on to her mother in law! I don't think I'll ever see it again….Have a super week!

I try to remember which blogger recommended it on my giant list of tbr books. When I add a book to it, I also put the blog where I saw it. But, of course, this only works if I remember to refer back to the list when I am writing the review! I'm excited, as always, to see what you think about your books this week. 🙂
