It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? 09/24/12

Another week has gone by and it’s time to share what we’ve been reading, and what we plan on reading next!
I caught up on some reviews..did I cheat by slapping 3 of them together? Yea, a little.
Reviews:

Current and Upcoming Reads:
I’ve just started Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. Two things about this book that are bugging me: One, the title is unfortunate due to the swirling vortex of hype surrounding that other book of a similar name. Two, I read about this on a blog and now I can’t remember which one. (I need to get organized!)
After that I’ll have to see what comes in for me at the library. I have 7/8 holds currently and it’s always a surprise to see which one comes in first!
What is going on in your neck of the woods?
Happy Reading!

  1. Both your books this week are on my TBR pile, I've heard good things about Between Shades of Grey. Well done getting caught up on reviews, something I'm still working on lol. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

  2. You read some great books lately! Glad you loved them as much as I did. My son's girlfriend picked up Between Shades of Gray by mistake, she wanted the other one. I told her to still read the \”wrong\” book, because it is 10 times better! We'll see what she does.

  3. Holy cows you read a lot this week! Don't you just love a great reading week? Too bad about the Shades of Gray book. I bet this author had the title before the other author too.

  4. So many of these sound good! I went to a workshop last week where we talked about Between Shades of Grey. I am looking forward to your review! The Book of Madness and Cures sounds really interesting too! I am interested in Buddy, but you will have to tell me if Buddy dies first!

  5. I also want to read Between Shades of Grey (*& would never, ever read that other one, egads!) but I've heard of quirks in the The Madness book and was told it wouldn't be for me, so I was happy to scratch that off my potential to read pile. For some reason I never got the promised Moran book, but I guess God knew I had too many to read anyway. Here's Monday's post.

  6. I'm off straight away to read your review of Mudbound – I thought it was very good. I hope you have a good week this week – hope a good book comes up from the library.

  7. If I hadn't seen this on another blog (who are you oh blogger that reviewed this??) I never would have picked it up. With this title I think the author will need all the help she can in spreading the word about this book! I'll do my part. I'm loving it so far!

  8. Ha, I probably made that sound cooler than it was. 😉 It was a Scholastic Book workshop. I work in a school library, so I run one of the school book fairs. I like to go to both of the fall and spring workshops though so I can preview a lot of the books. Lol.And thank goodness! I can't read books about an animal and then boom they are dead at the end! I die. I will have to check it out. The only one I could manage was Wesley the Owl, because the author said, if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, stop reading right here. So I did.

  9. I'm so intrigued by the cover art and the title of The Book of Madness and Cures! Also, I had an ARC of The Homecoming of Samuel Lake that I loaned to a friend after she asked me for a recommendation, and then told me what kinds of books she likes. I should have read it first, because she loved it and passed it on to her mother in law! I don't think I'll ever see it again….Have a super week!

  10. I try to remember which blogger recommended it on my giant list of tbr books. When I add a book to it, I also put the blog where I saw it. But, of course, this only works if I remember to refer back to the list when I am writing the review! I'm excited, as always, to see what you think about your books this week. 🙂

  11. I read The Book of Madness and Cures. I cannot wait to see what you think of it. I still need to get to the Ruth Septys book. She has a new one coming out this winter already!

  12. The Septys is so lovely 🙂 I didn't know she has a new one coming out!! I'll have to look that up asap!I'm just a bit into Madness. I like the language so far, but I'm running into a few issues already. I'm hoping I don't have to slog through it.

  13. I have heard some great things about Between Shades of Gray. I am also participating in the Sheila @ Book Journey's event for BBW, and am excited to get my post up this weekend. I'm currently reading Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan, which is great so far!
