It’s Monday!…And I’m a Moron! 09/17/12

Looky, some of my favorite blogs are reviewing A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick.
It sounds like an amazing read, and hey it takes place in my home state of Wisconsin!
Typey type on local library’s website to request it.
Woot! An email from the library, my new book is in!
Zoom Zoom across town to pick up my request.
Wow, the cover looks familiar to me.
Hmm, the words are even more familiar to me.
I’ve already read this damn book.
Brilliant Jennifer, brilliant.
Thankfully the rest of my blogging and reading week went much smoother than that!

  1. Oh! I'd be one upset girl if I bought a book that I'd already read! I'm looking forward to The Second Empress. I don't know a ton about that period in history and I'm looking forward to learning :)Thanks for stopping by Kathy!

  3. Oh my gosh!! Lol! I have done that before too! The cover on my book was different, maybe that threw you. 😉 I have wanted to read The Homecoming of Samuel Lake, but I have also heard there is a scene in it I am not sure I could take. When you finish reading it, I will have to ask you about it. The Hundred Flowers sounds really good, I will have to read it.Congrats on 100 followers!

  4. I've enjoyed Moran's work, but I haven't gotten her newest yet. Her reads are always fresh and of page turning status. AND LMAO at the the Goolrick adventure!!! I read several mixed reviews and it seems like it would not be a cuppa tea with the psycho/sex thing but otherwise the creepiness of it did at first intrigue me.I would love to be able to read Gone With the Wind again. Thanks for visiting my Monday post.

  6. I guess I'm the same kind of \”moron\” as you….only I actually bought a second copy of a book I'd already read (and owned). What does that say about the books? There are so many similar plots….Enjoy your reading, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  7. Hi Jennifer! So nice that we are poetry online co-students these days : ) And great mix of book you are reading / have read. i'm looking especailly forward to your international reviews, \”First They Killed My Father\” by Loung Ung – i once travelled through Cambodia. and also, \”A Hundred Flowers\” by Gail Tsukiyama, on China. i guess both have been demanding reads. Have a great reading week~Dorothee

  9. I'm still a nervous nelli about poetry but I'm hoping that by the end of the course I'll have a much better understanding of it all 🙂 They both were demanding reads, but well worth it. I always find myself drawn to those heavy sort of books.

  10. I am sure you are not the first or the last to accidentally pick up a book you've already read. It's a peril of book loving, I suppose. The Homecoming of Samuel Lake sounds great. I will definitely check back for your thoughts. 🙂

  11. Heh, I'm not saying anything… my recollection of a book I've read earlier in the year (or before that) usually becomes hazy. That comes with reading a lot I think? 😉 Also, I tend to forget which books I've got on the shelves. But I haven't yet purchased the same book twice *phew*BBAW was amazing, wasn't it? 🙂 I'm slowly backtracking through your blogposts…

  12. If I didn't write down all the books I read, I'd never remember if I was picking up a duplicate until I started reading. Sometimes I've even spent money on a duplicate :)Have a great week!

  13. It's so nice to hear from everyone that I'm not the only silly book lover who has accidentally reread something! One good thing for me is that I rarely buy books anymore. I had to cut myself off a few years ago. So the worst that can happen is that I make an extra trip to the library! BBAW was so much fun! I had a great feeling about this community from the start. Seeing it in action was amazing 😀

  14. Ha! I love that! I don't think I've ever reread something – yet. 😉 I can't wait to read your thoughts on The Homecoming of Samuel Lake. It's a book with a lot of charm. Happy reading.
